If your menstrual period is late, you may be pregnant. You can do a pregnancy test to see if you are pregnant. In Norway, this is usually a urine test.
Urine test
You can buy a pregnancy test in the supermarket or from a pharmacy. This kind of pregnancy test is a urine test. The test is reliable when it has been three weeks since the possible impregnation.
Do the test in the following way:
- Put the test in some of your urine.
- Put the test down horizontally.
- Wait about 5 minutes to see the result on the screen of the test.
If the test is positive, you have two options:
- You can continue the pregnancy: Contact your general practitioner or a midwife. The will see to you during your pregnancy.
- You can end the pregnancy with an abortion: Contact the hospital to make an appointment. You don't need to be referred by your general practitioner.
